In any industry, technology leads to even more technology. The casino industry is no exception. With ticket-in, ticket-out technology leading to faster payoffs at the slot machines, the next step is to reduce lines at the cashier's cage. And one way to do that is with ATM-like kiosks, where players can redeem their tickets for cash without having to wait for a cashier.
"We've been rolling out NRT Fast Cash machines at a number of properties, about eight to 10 so far," said David Norton, senior vice president of relationship marketing at Harrah's Entertainment. "We aggressively route customers to the kiosks. It's a lot faster than transactions at the cage."
Kiosks are available in ever increasing numbers, and not just for ticket redemption. Whether it's to run casino promotions, give hotel clients a business center with Internet access, or to teach the public how to play casino games, the kiosk offers solutions.
At NRT Technology Corp., which manufactures the kiosks Harrah's uses for its Fast Cash redemption, the QuickJack Plus system can be configured to redeem tickets for cash, break bills into smaller denominations and redeem slot club points.
"It's mostly a matter of educating the people that the kiosks are available," Norton said.
Since 1993, NRT has been creating a line of products, services, and support that are second to none. Industry-leading products for transaction processing, cash dispensing, machine monitoring, accounting, security, and maintenance capabilities enable operators to accurately analyze performance and accountability.
