Toronto, ON - June 20, 2005 – John Dominelli, president of NRT Technology Corp., has been nominated for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for 2005. The award celebrates the best in Canadian entrepreneurship, honouring those extraordinary men and women whose hard-earned success has made a positive difference in their communities and around the world.

Mr Ted Dillon, a distinguished manager of corporate lending at Roynat Capital, nominated Mr Dominelli for this year's award in the Information Technology category. Roynat Capital is a member of the Scotiabank Group and is Canada's leading merchant bank that specializes in innovative long-term capital and business solutions for mid-sized companies.

Ernst & Young searches for nominees in the Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario, Prairies, and Pacific (including the Territories) regions. Mr Dominelli is one of a hundred nominees in Ontario for the regional award. The judges are looking for the following criteria in all nominees:

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and corporate culture
  • Innovation
  • Personal integrity and influence
  • Strategic direction, market position, and industry impact
  • Financial performance

By early July 2005, nominees will be notified and press releases announcing the finalists in each region will be circulated. The winner in each region is then nominated for the Ernst & Young award for Canada. In turn, the Canadian Ernst & Young winner is nominated for the World Entrepreneur of the Year Award, which is held in Monte Carlo.

"I am both excited and humbled by this nomination," admitted Mr Dominelli. "It's an incredible acknowledgement and I'm extremely flattered by it. Being nominated for this award has put into perspective what I've accomplished over the years."
