University of Western Ontario - Social Science Computing Lab

The Social Science Computing Laboratory (SSCL) was first established in 1972 as a computing and services facility within the Faculty of Social Science. It has grown to become one of the largest such dedicated facilities, also earning a national reputation for its innovative and powerful Internet Data Library System in use by more than twenty universities across Canada.

The mandate of the SSCL is to provide state-of-the-art information technologies and professional personnel for technical, data, statistical, and software support of research and teaching in the Faculty of Social Science. The Faculty’s large high-speed network consists of computing servers, instructional computer rooms, extensive software titles, general and statistical help desks, how-to-publications, and online research data resources shaped for Social Science and related disciplines.
