Princess Auto

Princess Auto is a Canadian retailer. Through its stores, coast-to-coast mail order service, and manufacturing division, Princess Auto markets unique, comprehensive lines of quality hardgoods at competitive prices. Its customers are hands-on users in rural, industrial, and urban markets.

Princess Auto Wrecking was purchased in 1942 by Mr Harvey Tallman. He traded his truck for the business, which sold parts from stripped cars to local garages. At the end of World War II, the company started providing customers with army surplus items and using them to build its first manufactured products. Princess Auto's first catalogue was published in 1951. By the mid 60’s, the company had grown into a nation-wide mail order operation. In 1981, Princess Auto Limited was passed from Mr Harvey Tallman to his sons, Larry and Bob. Responding to a market shift from mail order to retail, Princess Auto's first retail store was opened in Edmonton in 1977.

Today, Princess Auto has twenty-three retail stores across Canada, serving three million customers a year.
