Glidden Paint
Glidden, one of the most popular paint brands in North America, strives to create confidence in consumers from start to finish. From the moment of decorating and colour inspiration, to the enduring enjoyment of a completed project for years to come, Glidden is for do-it-yourself and expert customers alike.
Glidden has been known in the paint and coatings industry for more than a century. It was in 1875 that 42-year-old Francis Glidden started a varnish-making business with two other partners along the Cuyahoga River in Ohio. In 1894, the name of their company changed from Glidden, Brackett & Co to Glidden Varnish Company. The company employed only 18 workers and produced more than 1,000 gallons a week of a variety of industrial finishes for furniture, pianos, wagons, and carriages.
Today, ICI Paints in North America produces decorative coatings brands such as Glidden, Dulux, and C-I-L paint. Products are sold through more than 660 company stores, national and retail outlets, including The Home Depot and independent dealers in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. There are 99 Glidden stores throughout Canada.
