Mardi Gras Racetrack and Gaming Center
The Mardi Gras Racetrack and Gaming Center reopened its doors on December 28, 2006. A bright purple carpet was rolled out, staying with the New Orleans Mardi Gras theme.
The track first opened its doors under the name of The Hollywood Kennel Club in 1934. The track known today opened in 1974, with seating for over 4,000 fans and a total capacity of 25,000. Its parking lot accommodates over 3,600 cars.
The property's racetrack is a dirt track, featuring greyhound racing. Racing can be either viewed live or on the monitors. The Mardi Gras Racetrack and Gaming Center also has an adoption program for retired greyhounds.
The track offers its patrons much more than just greyhound racing. A poker room is available during all live racing. The flea market is open for shopping enthusiasts every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The property has two eateries: The Dog House Sports Bar & Grill and the Greyhound Room, offering casual and fine dining, respectively.
