Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs
Located in southwest Iowa, across the Missouri River from Omaha, Nebraska, Council Bluffs has been visited by fur traders, famous explorers, including Lewis and Clark, and U.S. Presidents. It has been inhabited by Indian Nations and Mormon communities. As the West opened up, Council Bluffs became a corridor for populations wanting to reach California. Eventually, seven railroads converged in Council Bluffs. Today, its railroad history is commemorated in the RailsWest Railroad Museum.
Council Bluffs is also home to two riverboat casinos and a land-based gaming complex named Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs. Open 24 hours, seven days a week, Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs offers live greyhound racing, and thoroughbred and dog simulcast wagering, and slots-only entertainment all under one roof. The casino has 1500 slot machines.
In the centre of the complex is the Grand Buffet. The Fireside Restaurant offers fine dining. Free nightly entertainment is provided at the show lounge on the main floor of the casino. Regular weekly events like Polka Wednesdays and Big Band Thursdays have become drawing cards. One amenity unique to this casino is an RV park with 115 concrete level pads.
